Laws Extended Desk Mat

In late 1863, over six meetings in a London tavern, football got its first shared rulebook: thirteen laws. There was no crossbar, goals could be scored at any height, and players were still allowed to catch the ball.

Laws puts that moment on the desk as an overhead pitch in deep greens, mown into stripes, with a crowd packed tight along both touchlines. The story runs along the bottom edge in small print, so the mat explains itself to anyone who leans in.
